John Bright's Regiment of Foote

Part of the Roundhead Association in the English  Civil War Society

Being an OFFICER

Officers are the most wonderful and talented members of the regiment
(This text was NOT written by an Officer - Honest!).

One achieves the exalted status of a commission by dedication and hard work, also a lot of crawling and the ability to wear very loud and expensive clothes and still look like a something the cat threw up.

Any Officer will tell you that it is hard work and very demanding to take on the responsibility of leading men (and women) on the field. They will also talk of the onerous duties and endless meetings off the field.

But then they are all lying B*****ds anyway.

Junior Officers are selected by the Regimental Commanding Officer and all are commissioned by the Lord General.

There are currently 4 Officer positions in Bright's:
The Commanding Officer (currently a Major);
 A Lieutenant of Shot;
A Lieutenant of Pike; and
An Ensign who works with the CO.

 Every year members of the regiment get the chance to comment on the performance of their officers at the AGM. The members may call upon an officer to resign at this time, though any replacement is still the CO's choice.

Being an officer of a re-enactment regiment, especially Bright's, is an honour. It involves hard work both on and off the field, and above all a commitment of time and effort.

The regiment deserves to have officers who are so committed, and indeed many of Bright's officers, past and present definitely have been committed.
